Two-component clear polyurethane varnish (2-C)
PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is a two-component acrylic/aliphatic polyurethane-based coating, used as a topcoat (finish) in floor and wall applications (grouted concrete, concrete, industrial flooring, stone, etc.), metal surface coatings as well as structures near marine areas. Suitable also for swimming pools as a protective coating over epoxy paint.
It waterproofs the surface while giving it high mechanical resistance - especially to abrasion and impact - and resistance to stains. Finally, it has excellent resistance to UV radiation and does not yellow.
It polymerises with atmospheric, subsoil and air moisture and gives a matt surface.
Homogeneous, ready-to-use, industrial product of consistently high quality. Ensures good workability, increased application speed, is economical and provides excellent results.
Recommendation & Characteristics:
Two component (2-C) transparent polyurethane coating.
Although the specifications and instructions set out in this bulletin have been compiled to the best of our skill, knowledge and experience, they should be taken as indicative results and require verification after many applications. Users to whom this product is addressed should verify its suitability for the intended application. The end user is responsible for any result of the use of the product.
Application:
* The substrate must be firmly dry and free from all types of residues (plasters, powders, paints, oils, etc.). Old coatings, dirt, grease, vegetable matter and dust must be removed with the help of an abrasive machine (sander). Any surface irregularities should be healed and sanded. Any loose pieces or dust from sanding shall be removed. Caution: do not wash the surface with water before application.
* In the case of fresh concrete, at least 28 days are required before application of the material.
* PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is well stirred and applied by roller in two or more coats, depending on the absorbency of the substrate and the desired effect.
* For best results, the temperature during application should be between 5°C and 35°C. Low temperatures slow down curing, while high temperatures accelerate it. High humidity can affect the finish.
* Once the PROTECTOR SHIELD matt container is opened and comes into contact with air and atmospheric humidity, its contents must be used in its entirety. In the event that any quantity remains in the container after the application is completed, it will harden with time and cannot be used.
* The moisture content of the substrate must not exceed 5%.
* PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is ready for use after mixing the two components (for about 3 minutes) and after allowing it to settle for another 5 minutes. It is applied by roller in two coats.
* The working time is approximately 2 hours (25 oC).
* The time between two coats is 24 hours (25 °C).
* The hardening time is 24 hours (25 oC)
Packaging & Storage:
- In sets of metal containers of 5.2 kg (A + B component) and 1 kg (A + B component).
- In sealed containers and in a dry environment, protected from frost and prolonged exposure to strong sunlight for 2 years (Ingredient A) and 12 months (Ingredient B) from the date of production.
